Summary

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken the lives of over 500,000 Americans, and the pandemic is not yet over. For some, the availability of a vaccine has decreased fears about the virus, but for others, the prospect of taking a vaccine elicits hesitation and caution. As physical therapy professionals, we interact with individuals that may be recovering from COVID-19 as well as those that have doubts about the legitimacy of the virus and the vaccine. With our panel of experts, we hope to shed light on the spread of disinformation about the COVID-19 virus and vaccine. We will also discuss the differences between the most widely used vaccines and the distribution of these vaccines. Given the disparities related to COVID-19 infection in Black and Brown communities, we will be discussing the demographic implications of vaccine distribution. This course was formatted as a question and answer session with a panel of health experts (an epidemiologist, a physical therapist, and a health system manager).
